What Is Commercial Interior Design With Real Metal?

Interior designers and architects working in the commercial sector rely on materials that make a lasting impression. VeroMetal® coatings are made from real metal and can be applied to wood, MDF, stone or glass, offering the appearance and tactile feel of solid metal without the weight.

From brushed brass to aged bronze, our coatings allow you to execute sophisticated concepts across diverse sectors. The finishes are thin, flexible and durable, enabling seamless integration into commercial projects without compromising functionality or maintenance.

The Process

From Liquid To Solid Metal On Site

The coating is applied cold, which means a certified applicator can work inside an operational venue without heat, casting or foundry equipment. Three steps take it from a wet mixture to a genuine metal surface.

01

Mix

Real metal particles are combined with a binder to form a cold, workable liquid metal in the chosen finish.

02

Apply

The liquid is applied to prepared desks, panelling, shelving or bar fronts by brush, roller, palette knife or spray at 120 to 150 microns.

03

Cure and finish

Once cured, the surface is sanded, polished and, if desired, given a custom patina, then sealed to a scratch resistant, easy to clean finish.

The Principle

Real metal where solid metal cannot go. Commercial interiors gain the depth, texture and patina of genuine metal on surfaces that could never carry solid sheet.

Comparison

Commercial Interior Design With VeroMetal vs Solid Sheet Metal

Both deliver a genuine metal surface. In a commercial fit-out, the difference is weight, freedom of form, programme and maintenance.

Commercial Interior Design With VeroMetal

VeroMetal coating
  • Approximately 0.5 kg/m², applied at 120 to 150 microns.
  • Compatible with wood, MDF, stone, glass and existing surfaces.
  • Follows curved counters, columns and shelving without joints or fixings.
  • Applied at room temperature on-site, with controlled downtime in live venues.
  • Scratch resistant, easy to clean, and available in low VOC formulations.

Solid Sheet Metal

Traditional cladding
  • Many times heavier than a coating for a comparable surface.
  • Requires fixings, sub-structure and load-bearing support.
  • Curves and complex forms need fabrication and welding.
  • Fabrication and installation extend programme and disrupt trading.
  • Real metal, but constrained by weight and installation.

What Can Commercial Metal Finishes Be Applied To?

Because the coating is thin and flexible rather than fixed as a panel, it integrates seamlessly into a commercial fit-out and can be specified on elements that could never be made from solid metal.

Frequently Asked Questions

Commercial Interior Design: Common Questions

What are metal finishes for commercial interior design?

Metal finishes for commercial interior design are real metal surfaces created by coating rather than cladding. VeroMetal® coatings are made from genuine metal particles and can be applied to wood, MDF, stone or glass at 120–150 microns, offering the appearance and tactile feel of solid metal without the weight. They are specified on reception desks, feature walls, retail displays, hotel lobbies, restaurant bars and workspaces.

Which commercial sectors use VeroMetal?

VeroMetal® supports corporate interiors such as executive offices, boardrooms and common areas, retail spaces including flagship stores and luxury boutiques, hospitality venues such as hotels, lounges and fine dining spaces, and wellness centres including spas, health clubs and treatment rooms. Each surface finish is engineered to elevate the user experience while supporting long term performance.

Can VeroMetal be applied to existing commercial interiors?

Yes. VeroMetal® bonds directly to existing wood, MDF, stone, plaster, concrete and painted surfaces, so reception counters, panelling, shelving and bar fronts can be refinished in place. The coating cures at room temperature, which allows a certified applicator to work on-site in operational venues with controlled downtime.

Are VeroMetal finishes durable enough for high-traffic commercial spaces?

Yes. VeroMetal® finishes are thin, flexible and durable, enabling seamless integration into commercial projects without compromising functionality or maintenance. The cured surface is scratch resistant and easy to clean, and because it is genuine metal it can be sanded, polished and repatinated using standard metalworking techniques rather than replaced.

Which metal finishes suit commercial interior design?

From brushed brass to aged bronze, VeroMetal® coatings allow sophisticated concepts to be executed across diverse sectors. Brass and Gold suit retail and hospitality statements, Bronze and Copper bring warmth to lobbies and dining, Zinc and Tin support restrained corporate schemes, and Manganese and Iron anchor darker, more industrial commercial interiors. Custom patinas are available.

Are VeroMetal commercial finishes sustainable?

VeroMetal® coatings are low in VOC emissions, reduce the need for replacement and support long lasting, environmentally responsible design. Because existing elements can be recoated instead of stripped out, commercial fit-outs generate less waste and shorter replacement cycles.
