New Metal: VeroMetal® Mellow Brass
Mellow Brass: brass with the shine turned down
Brass has spent a decade being loud. Mellow Brass is the version that knows when to stop.
The newest finish in the VeroMetal range is a brass pulled back towards something calmer. Softer yellows, a hint of grey in the shadow, warmth that sits in a surface instead of bouncing off it. It reads as brass that has been in a room for years rather than brass that arrived last week.
Warmth without glare
A softer brass behaves differently in a space. It carries the warmth designers reach for, but it does not fight the lighting plan, and it does not turn every large surface into a mirror. That makes it work at scale: full wall panels, joinery fronts, ceiling details, a bar that runs the length of a room.
And it goes where sheet brass cannot. Applied cold onto wood, MDF, plaster, concrete, glass, fibreglass, foam, plastic or aluminium, onto curves, reliefs and sculpted forms. Around 0.5 kg per square metre, against roughly 35 kg for solid sheet metal. The shape leads and the metal follows.
Every surface its own
The final character arrives by hand. Sanded to matt, brushed for direction, polished for a soft satin, patinated where the design asks for age. Each route pulls something different out of the same material, which is why no two Mellow Brass surfaces are ever identical. And because it is brass, it goes on living. It ages the way the metal ages, because it is that metal.
