VeroMetal® is a successful participant in clinical trials with the use of it's cold metal coating system.
VeroMetal® provides a true copper coating which can be cold sprayed onto almost any surface, in any configuration. The coated seamless surface consists of up to 95% metal.

Over the past three years the properties of copper and copper alloys were tested against a number of bacterias such as e-coli and salmonella as well as those pathogens known as Hospital Aquired Infections (HAI's) MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus). The results showed Copper as having exceptional antibacterial properties.

At the University of Southampton, UK, testing identified copper as the only permanent coating achieving a 99,9% kill rate against the MRSA bacteria.

Currently extensive clinical trials are being carried out in medical centres such as Asklepios clinic of Hamburg, Germany and Selly Oak University Hospital in Birmingham, UK where a complete hospital station was equipped with toilet seat, door handles, push plates and light switches made of copper. At regular intervals samples are taken from both copper and standard surfaces and are evaluated. Door handles, toilet seats and light switches are known contamination points.

The results to date have been amazing, this according to Professor Tom Elliot, a Consultant Microbiologist and Deputy Medical Director at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Selly Oak Hospital.

The study concluded that, when tested, items made from copper had up to 95 per cent fewer micro-organisms on them, compared with the same items made out of standard materials such as stainless steel.
